West African Drum and Dance Workshop in Senegal

Travel with Landing Mané to his home village of Thionck-Essyl in the Casamance region of Senegal. Once you arrive in this beautiful, tranquil village on the river, you may never want to leave!

The Casamance is the southern part of the country, which is known for its lush scenery and relaxed pace. Thionck-Essyl is the largest village in Senegal with a poulation of over 10,000 and is situated on the Casamance river. You will be hosted by Diola (Jola) families, who are known for being exceptionally warm and welcoming people.

Learn rhythms, songs and dances from across Senegal - Djember, Sabar, bougeurabout, Tama, Saouruba.

Study with professional artists from the award-winning Dakar-based group Bakalama of Thionck-Essyl.

Workshop includes:

• 10 days of courses - 4 hours of drumming or dance daily
• 3 traditional meals per day
• Accommodation with local families
